The name
Find The Others is a line from Timothy Leary.
In the 1960s he told people who felt out of place that the answer was not to fit in better but to find the others: the ones who had noticed the same things and were asking the same questions. Terence McKenna carried the line to a later generation, and it has been handed on ever since by people who recognise themselves in it.
We took it literally.
The others are out there, doing careful work in small rooms and far-off places, and they are hard to find because they are not shouting. This directory is our way of putting them on the map, so that finding them takes a search instead of luck.

Is Find The Others connected to Timothy Leary?
No. The name is a nod to the phrase, nothing more. Find The Others is an independent public benefit project with no ties to Leary's estate or to any other organisation that uses the line.
