Reichbach Center

Reichbach Center is a ketamine infusion clinic in Sarasota, on Florida’s Gulf Coast, that treats chronic pain and mental health conditions with intravenous ketamine. It opened in 2016 and also offers medical cannabis evaluations, CBD infusions and EXOMIND, which it describes as a drug-free, non-invasive option for depression, anxiety, stress and OCD.

Approach

Founder Dr. Steven Reichbach, a board-certified anaesthesiologist, is always on site to oversee treatment, working with clinical director Lolita Borges, RN. Each patient-guest, as the clinic calls them, gets an individual plan rather than a fixed protocol, and the clinic says it puts no time limit on a treatment, so the dose can be adjusted until it is right for the condition.

Who it is for

The clinic treats adults with chronic pain and with mental health conditions: anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, chronic fatigue syndrome, suicidal thoughts and several kinds of depression, among them bipolar and postpartum. It does not currently recommend ketamine for schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Its exclusions include uncontrolled blood pressure, unstable heart disease, active substance abuse, a manic phase, active psychosis, a recent heart attack or stroke, uncontrolled seizures, glaucoma, severe liver or kidney disease, pregnancy and a weight over 250 pounds.

Practical details

The clinic is at 2415 University Parkway, Building 3, Suite 215, and is open Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 5:30pm. Treatments are listed at $550 to $1,200, and a free consultation with Dr. Reichbach comes first. Patients need someone to drive them home and must not drive for 24 hours afterwards. The office does not keep or sell ketamine or cannabis products.

Care and safety

During an infusion, ACLS-certified staff continuously monitor heart rate and rhythm, breathing and blood pressure. The clinic says most patients can return to their usual activities the day after an infusion.
