Institute for Integrative Therapies

The Institute for Integrative Therapies (IIT) is a psychedelic medicine clinic in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, whose main specialty is ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP). It also offers ketamine infusions for mental health and chronic pain, Spravato (esketamine), group KAP and wellness infusions, and serves as a site for psychedelic clinical trials.

Approach

The clinic was founded by Dr Manoj Doss, a physician board-certified in addiction medicine, who also set up an apprenticeship that he says has prepared more than 50 clinicians for psychedelic-assisted work. In a KAP course, ketamine is given by intramuscular injection in a room set up with music, with a physician and a therapist present for the session of 1.5 to 2 hours. One to three preparation sessions come before it and two or three integration sessions after it. Couples, families and groups can also go through the process together, at lower cost.

Practical details

Out of pocket, a 55-minute preparation or integration session costs $150 and a two-hour KAP session $850; with insurance, a KAP session is estimated at about $500. A one-hour infusion for mental health costs $500. The clinic is in network with Aetna, Cigna, HealthPartners, UCare and Blue Cross Blue Shield, helps with out-of-network claims and accepts CareCredit financing. It is open Monday to Friday.

Care and safety

Treatment starts with two evaluations: a diagnostic assessment and mental health history with a psychedelic-informed therapist, and a brief exam with a physician who reviews physical conditions, medication and health records. Every patient works with a physician throughout, and a final physical check is done before discharge after each medicine session.
