Master Plant Retreat

Master Plant Retreat is the ayahuasca retreat of Amoraleza, an off-grid plant medicine centre in the mountains above Órgiva and Lanjarón in Granada province, southern Spain. It runs three-day and five-day retreats with ayahuasca, rapé and sananga, and has held ceremonies since 2005.

Approach

Ceremonies draw on Brazilian spiritual traditions but follow no single lineage, and each is carried by live music and songs from several shamanic traditions. The founder, Veronika Sarava, a medicine woman and naturopath, works with a team of facilitators, musicians and helpers. In the weekend format, evening ceremonies on Friday and Saturday open with a sharing circle, and Sunday is kept for integration. The organisers say their ayahuasca is made for them by friends in Brazil and Peru from caapi, chacruna and spring water only. Kambô is offered separately by an IAKP-certified practitioner, alongside massage, nutrition consultations and mediumship sessions.

Practical details

Weekend retreats have cost €444 to €544, for groups of 20 to 35, and upcoming dates include 20 to 24 November and 30 December to 3 January. The land covers 4.35 hectares on the edge of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park, 45 minutes south of Granada, and runs on solar power. Guests stay in yurts, hempcrete rooms, cabins or bell tents, from €15 a night for camping to €70 for a yurt, and meals are vegan. Amoraleza also runs five-day retreats for women and private ceremonies for small groups.

Care and safety

The registration form asks about earlier plant medicine experience and medical and psychiatric history, and the centre cannot host people with serious psychiatric conditions or on certain prescription drugs. Dietary guidelines arrive after booking and are best followed for at least three days beforehand. After the retreat, participants receive an aftercare document and can contact the team for further support.
