Gijs Tecklenburg

Gijs Tecklenburg is a psychedelic guide in ‘s-Hertogenbosch who leads legal psilocybin truffle sessions through Triptherapie, at clients’ homes in the region or on a houseboat in the city. He brings more than forty years of work in mental health care, combined with a long meditation practice.

Approach

Tecklenburg trained as a social psychiatric nurse and worked in conventional mental health care with people in crisis and with trauma, anxiety and existential questions. In 2006 he brought mindfulness training into the mental health service in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, and he has since given hundreds of courses and retreats in Open Focus, ACT, mindfulness, compassion training and Interpersonal Mindfulness. He also studied for years with the spiritual teacher Mooji. His guidance can include meditation, breathwork, gentle body-oriented exercises and non-dual approaches that use IFS principles. Near retirement he let his BIG registration lapse, then retrained in psychedelic work, and Triptherapie describes its guidance as coaching.

Practical details

The base price of 850 euros covers the intake, preparation advice and consultation, the session itself and an integration consultation, and a duo session costs 1,350 euros. Home sessions within an hour’s travel of ‘s-Hertogenbosch add 50 cents per kilometre. Sessions at De Bedding, a private houseboat in Den Bosch for up to four people, cost nothing extra and include a free overnight stay, and group ceremonies are held there too. He works in Dutch, English and German and, being retired, takes on work selectively and is not available all year.

Care and safety

Every client first completes an online intake that screens for contraindications. Preparation covers intention, expectations and practical arrangements, and integration afterwards helps carry insights into daily life. The sessions use magic truffles, the only way psilocybin sessions can be offered legally in the Netherlands.
