About

Mushroom Tao is a psilocybin guidance service run by Leti and Chi from Costa Rica, with an address in Savegre de Aguirre in Puntarenas Province. Its private retreats in Costa Rica are on a break, and the current offer is one-to-one coaching by video and mentorship for facilitators.

Approach

Leti and Chi started Truffles Therapy in the Netherlands in 2018 and had more than 200 guests in the first year before moving to Costa Rica. Their approach draws on the Tao: they act as kind, silent witnesses and let the participant’s own inner healing intelligence lead. Chi, who has worked with psilocybin since 2017, brings Buddhist and Taoist perspectives to his coaching, founded tripsitters.org, helped found Psychedelic Community Costa Rica in 2023 and wrote the book Psilocybin 101. The paused retreat programme ran in three stages: three to six weeks of preparation with weekly video calls and microdosing coaching, the retreat itself, and eight weeks of integration.

Who it is for

Mushroom Tao says it mainly serves compassionate, service-minded people such as healers, therapists and caregivers who struggle with anxiety, emotional exhaustion or a wish for more clarity and purpose. Chi’s coaching addresses burnout, overthinking, shame, grief, depression, feeling stuck and unhealthy relationship patterns, and welcomes first-timers and experienced users. It is not remote tripsitting for larger doses and not a substitute for medical advice.

Practical details

Coaching runs as 60-minute video sessions over Signal, with text and voice messages in between and replies usually within 36 hours. A single session costs $140 to $180 on a sliding scale, three sessions $420 to $540 and five $700 to $900, and the packages include a supply of psilocybin for microdosing or larger doses. Financial aid works on an honour system, and a free 15-minute intro call comes first.
