About

Nature Temple is a psilocybin truffle retreat centre in Teuge, in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands, which has held ceremonies since 2008. It is run by Mark Huser and Maya van Oosterhout, who live on the site, and grew out of the Earth Awareness Foundation, set up in 2006.

Approach

Ceremonies take place in the Nature Temple itself, a building of clay and wood designed on principles of bio-architecture and sacred geometry, which the founders spent 13 years building with volunteers. The five-day retreat has two ceremonies: the first on day two, after breathwork, voice work and a medicine wheel ritual, with live music; the second on day four, after dance and meditation, to a playlist. A day of sharing circles, bodywork and rest sits between them, and the last day ends with an integration workshop. There are also three-day retreats, one of them for women, two-day group ceremonies and private ceremonies. The truffles come from a grower in the Netherlands the centre has used for more than ten years.

Who it is for

The centre describes its participants as seekers at a crossroads, people recovering from a hard period and those wanting to work through grief or old trauma. Participants must be 21 or older, and everything runs in English.

Practical details

The five-day retreat costs €1,450 for groups of 7 to 15, with meals, a private tent in an indoor camping hall and pickup from Twello station. The three-day retreat costs €460, and two-day group ceremonies for up to 24 people cost €243 in 2026.

Care and safety

An intake form covers medical and emotional health and screens out conditions such as heart problems, pregnancy and a tendency to psychosis; antidepressants and antipsychotics rule participation out. The team includes a natural healthcare practitioner and first aid staff, and checks in about eight days after a retreat.
