Aimee Beyers, AMFT, APCC

Aimee Beyers is a marriage and family therapist based in Los Angeles, licensed in both California and Texas, who offers online therapy and psychedelic preparation and integration. She is also working on a doctorate at the California Institute of Integral Studies, in transpersonal psychology, with research on consciousness and non-ordinary states.

Approach

Her work combines narrative and relational therapy with somatic and transpersonal perspectives, and looks at meaning, identity, the body and relationships as well as symptoms. She trained in narrative and postmodern therapy at Miracle Mile Community Practice and in level 1 of the Trauma Resiliency Model, and is certified as a psychedelic-assisted therapy provider through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute. Her MA in clinical psychology is from Antioch University in Los Angeles. Born in South Africa and raised partly at sea and partly in Texas, she spent nearly twenty years making music professionally before training as a therapist.

Who it is for

She works with adults and couples, and is especially drawn to creative people and to anyone living outside a conventional script. Clients have come to her with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, questions of identity, and relationship or career concerns. In psychedelic work she makes room for whatever happened, including the frightening or unclear parts, and does not provide or administer psychedelics herself.

Practical details

Sessions take place online on a HIPAA-compliant platform, for clients located in California or Texas. A 50-minute individual or couples session costs $250, paid by card at the end. She does not take insurance but issues a monthly superbill. A free phone call of about 20 minutes comes first, and she offers referrals if she is not the right fit.
