About

Alex Atwood is a psychedelic coach in Merrifield, Virginia, who guides leaders and professionals through microdosing. He came to coaching after more than 20 years of founding and running companies in hospitality and staffing, and he hosts the Alchemist Lounge podcast.

Approach

His microdosing programme is a series of one-to-one sessions. A first session deals with the practical side, such as dose and schedule, and with personal motivation and intention. Follow-up sessions review how it is going and adjust the protocol, and integration sessions at the end look at what helped and whether to continue. Clients keep a digital journal throughout. Atwood completed a 150-hour psychedelic coaching certification, has coached for Landmark Worldwide, has served as a 1heart elevation leader and is studying for an ICF credential in organisational wellbeing. He follows Nonviolent Communication, meditates twice a day and takes part in temazcal, cacao and plant medicine work.

Who it is for

He aims his coaching at leaders who want to improve their wellbeing and productivity, and presents microdosing as a practice for focus, creativity, mood and energy. A separate programme combines biohacking, such as tracking sleep, nutrition and exercise with wearable devices, with microdose integration for executives.

Practical details

The microdosing programme runs for 10 weeks with weekly 60-minute video sessions, exercises and assignments, at $3,000. The executive programme lasts three months and costs $8,000. Sessions can also take place in person. A free 30-minute call comes first.

Care and safety

After the first call, clients fill in a form on their needs, experience and goals. For psychedelic integration he adds an intake form covering mental and emotional health history, family history and earlier experiences with plant medicine.
