About

Ana Schlosser is a registered provisional psychologist in Medicine Hat, Alberta, who founded and directs Psynergy Centre Health & Wellness. Her work centres on trauma and PTSD, and she is trained in psychedelic preparation and integration and in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.

Approach

In more than 25 years she has worked in schools, child protection, crisis services, forensic settings and community mental health, moving from children and families to adult trauma. She grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, moved to Alberta in 2008 for a post in forensic psychology, opened a private practice in 2014 and set up Psynergy in 2021. Her trauma methods include EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems, alongside DBT and ACT. MAPS gave her a scholarship to train in MDMA therapy for PTSD, and she led the design of the centre’s licensed psychedelic drug treatment service.

Who it is for

She sees adults and young people, alone or in groups, for trauma, anxiety, OCD and life transitions. Much of her work is with first responders, public safety staff, serving military members and veterans. New clients start with a shared care consultation, after which she may continue with them or refer them on.

Practical details

Sessions take place at Psynergy Centre, 378 1st St SE in Medicine Hat, or online, during the day. Her fee is listed at $220. Direct billing is available for Veterans Affairs, the RCMP, Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Canadian Armed Forces.

Care and safety

Her team describes psychedelic treatment as a short-term plan that starts with a referral from a GP, psychiatrist or other registered clinician. A psychiatric nurse or psychologist screens for contraindications such as psychotic symptoms, and the medical director, a psychiatrist, approves the case. Preparation, the medicine sessions and integration follow, and the client then returns to their usual providers. A registered nurse works in the ketamine programme.
