Anahita (Ana) Kashefi, MS, LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Marin County, California, who runs Rising Mind Therapy. Approach

For four years Kashefi worked alongside Dr Phil Wolfson, who wrote The Ketamine Papers, both in clinical ketamine work and in co-leading trainings for physicians and therapists. She trained further in couples and sex therapy through a post-master’s fellowship at UCLA, through AACAST. She calls her style relational and depth-oriented, attentive to attachment, safety and the nervous system, an emphasis she traces to early fieldwork with families and adults recovering from trauma and abuse. A trained musician and performer, she also works with artists on creative blocks, performance anxiety and self-criticism.

Her clinical focus covers depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship and attachment difficulties, and concerns specific to artists. She sees individuals and couples, and also offers integration for people who received ketamine treatment elsewhere.

Practical details

Therapy runs online across California, with coaching beyond the state. Individual sessions cost $250 and couples sessions $275 for 50 minutes. For ketamine work, preparation and integration sessions cost $250 each, and an in-person medicine session of about three hours costs $900. Two- to four-day ketamine intensives can be arranged, and a few sliding-scale places are kept for people in financial need. A free 20-minute call comes first.

Care and safety

Each ketamine client first has a 45-minute telehealth assessment with a licensed physician, at $275, to check whether ketamine is appropriate and rule out contraindications. The physician and Kashefi then work together as the treatment team, and she stays with the client throughout each medicine session. Her licence number is LMFT 118225.
