About

Frank Ehrenfried is a licensed marriage and family therapist who offers online therapy and psychedelic integration to adults and couples across California, including the Bay Area. His practice centres on anxiety, depression, burnout and relationship patterns.

Approach

Ehrenfried holds a master’s in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, an MBA earned in Brazil and a BA from UC Berkeley. He worked in business, government and international trade before training as a therapist. His trainings include EMDR, the Hakomi Method, Somatic Experiencing, Holotropic Breathwork, MDMA therapy through MAPS and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy with KTC and Polaris Insight Center. He describes his style as collaborative and direct: he asks pointed questions, names patterns and brings humour and warmth. Integration sessions are talk therapy about what came up during an experience.

Who it is for

Most of his clients are professionals, founders and parents in their 20s to 60s who look capable from the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected. He also works with couples stuck in cycles of conflict or distance, and with people trying to understand a psychedelic experience, whether it felt meaningful or unsettling.

Practical details

Sessions run by secure video for clients in California. Individual sessions cost $250 for 50 minutes, and extended individual or couples sessions $325 for 80 minutes. The practice is private-pay, with superbills available for out-of-network claims, and a free 20-minute introductory call comes first.

Care and safety

Ehrenfried is licensed as a marriage and family therapist in California and Montana. He does not prescribe, supply or administer psychedelic substances in his private practice. Separately, he mentors in ketamine-assisted trainings at Polaris Insight Center, has rated adherence for FDA trials of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy and founded Luvia, a clinic in Brazil offering ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.
