Iryna Aronov, LMFT

Iryna Aronov, LMFT, is a Bay Area marriage and family therapist who offers ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) as well as psychedelic preparation and integration. She sees clients at an office in Oakland and online anywhere in California.

Approach

Aronov earned a master’s in counselling psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, has practised psychotherapy since 2013 and has done psychedelic-assisted work since 2020, including the MAPS training in MDMA therapy. Earlier she was an auditor at Ernst & Young and a programme manager at Google, and she names her own severe depression as the start of this path. She calls her style direct and engaged: she gives feedback rather than only listening. Ketamine sessions open with relaxation and body exercises, then move between turning inward and talking about what comes up.

Who it is for

Her work is aimed at high-functioning people caught in stress, perfectionism, people-pleasing and overthinking, and at relationships and trauma. With Jessica Cliff, LMFT, she leads a KAP group for women dealing with anxiety, burnout, trauma or self-worth, with three group medicine sessions and integration after each one.

Practical details

Her hourly fee is $250, prorated for ketamine sessions, which usually last 2.5 to 3 hours. Journey Clinical charges $250 for the medical intake and $150 for each follow-up, and lozenges cost around $30 for the first two doses. Insurance does not pay directly, but these fees can qualify for out-of-network reimbursement. A free consultation is available.

Care and safety

Journey Clinical’s medical team decides who is eligible, writes the treatment plan, prescribes the sublingual lozenges and monitors outcomes, with follow-ups at least once a quarter. KAP with her requires at least two preparation and two integration sessions, and the first dosing session lasts three hours.
