Jeffrey Gianelli, LCSW
About
Jeffrey Gianelli is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and trauma therapist in Oakland, California, whose practice, Onward Leading, works in partnership with Rose Therapy. He offers EMDR, ketamine-assisted therapy and psychedelic integration in person in the East Bay and by telehealth across California and North Carolina, where he is also licensed.
Approach
Gianelli has practised since 2016. He is an EMDRIA-approved EMDR consultant and helped create a parts-informed version of EMDR, which he now teaches to other therapists in workshops and consultation groups. He has trained in Internal Family Systems, ACT, DBT, CBT and compassion-focused therapy, teaches the Mindful Self-Compassion programme, and is an ordained Buddhist minister. For psychedelic work he is certified by Journey Clinical to provide ketamine-assisted therapy and has trained as a Zendo Project sitter. He first spends a few sessions on a client’s history, medicine and goals, then on intentions and set and setting, sometimes using art, collage or divination cards. He can be present during an experience and holds several integration sessions afterwards.
Who it is for
He works with adults aged 18 and over on PTSD and trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, grief and self-worth, and offers 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming and Buddhist-informed therapy, couples work and EMDR intensives.
Practical details
Sessions cost $175 to $200. A free 15-minute phone consultation comes first, followed by forms on background, goals and health history. Associate therapists at the practice work under his supervision.
