Jenelle McArthur, RSW

Jenelle McArthur is an Indigenous social worker and psychedelic integration psychotherapist in Regina, Saskatchewan, who sees clients online through the Psynergy Centre. Her focus is preparing for and integrating psilocybin, plant medicine and other non-ordinary states, alongside therapy for trauma and addiction.

Approach

She is from Ocean Man First Nation in Treaty 4 Territory, Dakota and Nakota with Scottish ancestry, and her spirit name is Chasing Bear. She holds a Master of Indigenous Social Work from the First Nations University of Canada and trained further with the Trauma Informed Institute at the University of British Columbia and the Coady International Institute. She calls her approach psycho-spiritual, and works with Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing and a mind, body and spirit model she names 3-in-1 Concepts.

Who it is for

She works with young people and adults on addiction, anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma. Her integration work also covers dreams, near-death experiences, messages received in ceremony, drug-induced psychosis and fragmentation after trauma. For practitioners and for First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities she gives talks on topics such as intergenerational trauma and colonisation.

Practical details

Sessions are online, for individuals and groups, and she is taking new clients in Saskatchewan. A session costs $170. Clients pay by credit card or e-transfer, and she bills the Non-Insured Health Benefits Program directly for First Nations and Inuit clients.

Care and safety

For psychedelic-assisted work, her intake starts with a medical consultation and a Medicine Wheel assessment that looks at addiction status, psychotic symptoms and stability. A psychiatrist acting as medical director reviews each case before preparation begins, and clients go back to their usual providers after integration. She consults a team of medical and mental health professionals, Knowledge Keepers and Elders.
