Joseph Anew
About
Joseph Anew is a breathwork and health coach in Austin, Texas, and the founder of RUNGA, a wellness company that runs live events and online programmes. New clients start with the RUNGA Intensive, a 90-day online programme aimed at burnout and resetting the nervous system.
Approach
He has coached people on physical and emotional health for 20 years and led sport at Spartan Race for eight years, working with professional endurance athletes. He says recovering from a traumatic brain injury shaped how he works. His TEDx Lugano talk, Breathe, about breathing, heart rate variability and the body, has more than 1.3 million views on YouTube. He is certified as a psychedelic practitioner, as a strength and conditioning specialist and in Russian kettlebell training (level II). The Intensive pairs weekly audio lessons on health, sleep and nutrition, which also draw on kundalini and chakra teachings, with a new breathwork practice each week and a guided conscious connected breathwork ceremony every two weeks.
Who it is for
RUNGA aims the programme at busy people and executives dealing with burnout. One-to-one coaching comes only after the Intensive, for those who want to go further.
Practical details
Three-month programmes are priced from $1K upwards, and the first two weeks of the Intensive are free, with no card needed. Everything runs on a private online platform, with live group question and answer sessions and optional private coaching. He says 80 per cent of his clients reach 80 per cent of their goal within the first 90 days.
Care and safety
The digital intake covers a health and lifestyle assessment, a goal-setting workshop, a baseline reading of the nervous system and a safety screening for breathwork.
