About

Joshua Pritikin is an Internal Family Systems (IFS) practitioner in Medford, Oregon, working as Estrela Counseling, mostly by video or phone. He sees individuals and couples, and supports psychedelic preparation, integration and sessions with 5-MAPB.

Approach

Pritikin holds a PhD in quantitative psychology from the University of Virginia (2016), has meditated for more than 30 years and reached IFS Level 3 certification in 2026. For psychedelic-assisted sessions he recommends 5-MAPB, an empathogen with effects similar to MDMA: after a preparation session the client takes it at home while he stays with them by video for the four to six hours it lasts, and sessions are spaced at least three months apart. He does not prescribe, procure or administer any substance.

Who it is for

His site speaks to people facing anxiety or depression, a struggling relationship, trauma, grief, shame or self-criticism, addiction, or a sense of being stuck or numb. First-time psychedelic users are welcome.

Practical details

Sessions cost $200 an hour and include non-emergency support by text. He takes no insurance, but a sliding scale is available for people on low incomes, veterans and active military. He suggests weekly 75-minute sessions, or 90 minutes for couples. Telehealth eligibility depends on the client’s state, and house calls within 30 miles of White City, Oregon, cost the same hourly rate. A free 20-minute consultation comes first.

Care and safety

Pritikin practises as an unlicensed IFS practitioner under Oregon law and states that he is not a medical doctor. He asks clients on antidepressants or other medication to consult their own physician, since some interact with psychedelics. His site says that, as of April 2026, 5-MAPB does not appear in the federal drug schedules, while noting the Federal Analogue Act, and leaves clients responsible for the law where they live.
