About

Rachel Richards is a licensed mental health counsellor in Washington State and the founder of Four Winds Therapy, a small team practice based in Amboy that offers psychotherapy, psychedelic integration, mindfulness groups and retreats. Her own sessions take place online.

Approach

She has worked in mental health for more than 30 years, including decades in children’s mental health and community services for people with serious mental illness. She pairs a humanistic, existential stance with CBT, DBT and ACT, and draws on systems work, depth psychology and cultural analysis. With a master’s in counselling psychology, doctoral work in education and long training in the dharma, she brings mindfulness and present-moment awareness into sessions. She grounds her psychedelic integration work in lifelong experience of folk healing, consciousness expansion and plant medicine, and she supervises the associate therapists in her practice.

Who it is for

She has worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds. Her integration work is for people who want support in questioning what a psychedelic experience brought up and carrying it into daily life.

Practical details

Individual psychotherapy starts at $120 and psychedelic integration at $150, both online, and the practice offers an introductory session from $10 so new clients can judge the fit. It also runs a self-love group for $50, a mindfulness group by donation, in-person retreats from $1,000 and a depth psychology intensive on remote islands in North Carolina or Washington for $1,200.

Care and safety

Sessions run on HIPAA-compliant video software. The first one covers background, goals and how she works, so both sides can decide whether to continue.
