Sarah C. Benoit, LCMHC
About
Sarah C. Benoit, LCMHC, is a licensed clinical mental health counsellor in Milford, New Hampshire, also licensed in Massachusetts, who sees adults in person and online. She holds a Cornell University certificate in plant medicine and works with clients before and after psychedelic experiences, alongside trauma therapy with EMDR and CBT.
Approach
Benoit earned a BS in business administration at Northeastern University in 1992 and an MS in counselling psychology at Fitchburg State College in 2004. She worked on a hospital inpatient unit and in community mental health before turning to private practice in 2011, and completed the Cornell certificate in 2021. Her integration work uses CBT, EMDR and trauma-focused psychotherapy to prepare for an experience, then helps the client turn what came up into changes in daily life and relationships, always at the client’s own pace. She belongs to the American Psychedelic Practitioners Association and New Hampshire’s disaster behavioural health response team, and hosts a podcast, Therapy Unplugged.
Who it is for
She works only with individual adults, on anxiety and panic, depression, trauma and PTSD, chronic illness, grief and low self-esteem. Some clients come to learn how plants might fit into managing anxiety or depression, others for a more spiritual look at ego and life experience.
Practical details
Sessions last 60 minutes and cost $220, paid at each visit by cash, cheque, HSA card or credit card. She does not take insurance but provides superbills, and cancellations need 24 hours’ notice.
Care and safety
After a first conversation about fit, new clients complete forms on psychosocial background, medical history, current concerns and symptoms, then have an intake session of about 45 minutes. Her licence numbers are 634 in New Hampshire and 6091 in Massachusetts.
