Vital Reset
About
Vital Reset runs legal psilocybin sessions in Hood River, Oregon, a town in the Columbia River Gorge about an hour east of Portland. It is a psilocybin service centre within the state’s licensed programme, and in 2023 it became the fourth in Oregon to open.
Approach
One facilitator licensed by the Oregon Health Authority stays with each client from the first meeting to the last integration talk, and the centre makes the match itself. Two online preparation meetings, three to six hours in all, cover the process, intentions and ways to ease anxiety, and settle the dose. Session day lasts four to six hours in a quiet room at the centre, with the facilitator present the whole time.
Who it is for
The centre says most clients have already tried years of therapy or more than one medication, and it names depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and dependence among what they bring. Many are new to psilocybin. Clients must be 21 or older; Oregon asks for no prescription, diagnosis or residency.
Practical details
The process takes two to four weeks and costs $2,800 all in: centre and facilitator fees, the psilocybin, screening, two preparation meetings, the session day and two integration sessions. A complex medical situation can fall outside that price. Clients may not drive afterwards and need a ride home. Most book a single session, and there are no packages.
Care and safety
Everything starts with a phone call with co-owner Jim Yue rather than a booking page. A registered nurse screens anyone on prescription medication, SSRIs in particular, before a date is set. Clinical director Ann Chatterton, a nurse for 32 years, wrote the training curriculum for the first facilitators Oregon licensed.
