Mike Metcalf

Mike Metcalf is a psychedelic guide and personal transformation coach in the Salt Lake City area of Utah. Through his practice, Bloom & Decay, he guides medicine sessions with preparation and integration coaching, in person at his home in Draper or remotely.

Approach

Before going independent he worked at Noma Therapy as its lead guide for ketamine-assisted therapy, sitting with patients in more than 600 sessions and coordinating care with prescribers and therapists. He describes his way of working as traditional ceremony combined with clinical safety practice, and he has trained with traditional healers to bring ritual into a session. The practice name refers to cycles of change in nature: every offer runs through preparation, the medicine session and integration coaching aimed at small practical changes. His training includes certification from the Psychedelic Coaching Institute, Inner Team Dialogue, level one Reiki, Mental Health First Aid and Attuned Titration.

Who it is for

He works with people looking for a careful route into alternative medicines for healing, personal growth or spiritual development. As a former member of the LDS Church, he has a particular interest in supporting active and former members through faith transitions. Trauma and long-standing or treatment-resistant mental health problems are another focus, and his practice is affirming for LGBTQ+ clients.

Practical details

Ceremonies are usually held at his home in Draper, and he also travels; other work happens online, though some medicines are in person only. Packages cost $400 to $2,000, depending on the format, the dose and the amount of coaching. Work starts with a free 30-minute discovery call.

Care and safety

Before any session, clients complete a medical and mental health assessment so that risks can be identified and talked through. Preparation looks at past patterns, motivations and intentions, and during the session itself he stays fully present with the client.
