About

Sarah Greer, an addiction and mental health counsellor in Toronto, is a certified psychedelic coach who offers psychedelic preparation and integration by phone and video to clients across Canada. She also provides addiction, mental health and trauma counselling, coaching for personal growth and Reiki.

Approach

She has worked for more than 15 years in addiction treatment, at a private centre and in a hospital programme, and spent several years teaching concurrent disorders at George Brown College. She studied sociology at the University of Western Ontario, holds a postgraduate certificate in addiction counselling from Durham College, teaches vinyasa, hatha and kundalini yoga, and is a Reiki master. Her counselling rests on harm reduction and evidence-based methods, among them mindfulness, cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapy, emotion-focused therapy, motivational interviewing and narrative therapy, and on her own healing with psychedelics. Preparation covers the risks and benefits, intention setting and a stable inner and outer setting; in integration she follows the client’s lead and helps turn insights into habits such as meditation, yoga or creative practice.

Who it is for

Her services are for people in recovery from addiction, people seeking support with mental health or trauma, and anyone using psychedelics safely and responsibly for personal growth. She describes herself as a guide rather than someone who fixes or rescues, and asks clients to take an active part in their own process.

Practical details

Sessions run by phone or video and cost $100 to $150 an hour. A free discovery call of 15 to 30 minutes comes first, followed by a detailed intake form on history, goals and current challenges.

Care and safety

The discovery call includes an assessment of suitability for psychedelic coaching or counselling, and she states that she will not help clients cause harm to themselves or others.
