Reunion
About
Reunion is a resort and retreat centre on Sugar Beach Road in Guanacaste, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, under an hour from Liberia airport. Founded by Brad Wells as a not-for-profit centre for ayahuasca and psilocybin ceremonies, it now operates as an adults-only resort by the sea under the name Reunion Wellness Resort & Retreats, and its current website lists no plant medicine retreats.
Approach
The resort offers three ways to stay: self-directed visits, a guided 7-Day Reset, and retreats run by visiting leaders on themes such as meditation, yoga, workplace burnout and leadership. The reset week, led by a Reunion programme guide, combines movement, breathwork or sound healing, a hot and cold contrast circuit with a sauna, and treatments such as red-light therapy.
As a plant medicine centre, Reunion ran eight-day ayahuasca retreats with four ceremonies and Inner Alchemy, an eight-day programme with three psilocybin ceremonies, alongside leadership retreats and retreats for the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Applicants then completed a health intake reviewed by a team that included a medical doctor and a psychotherapist.
Who it is for
The resort takes adults only, and the reset week is designed for solo guests, couples and friends.
Practical details
Guests stay in casitas and suites and have three whole-food meals a day, with greens from an on-site farm, as well as a sauna, cold plunge, hot tub and saltwater pool. The 7-Day Reset is priced for shared rooms, with private rooms from $3,000, and a shuttle from Liberia airport is optional. The former ceremony retreats took groups of 25 to 35 people and cost $2,900 to $3,600.
