About

Clara Rose, whose legal name is Ronni Umles, is a licensed mental health counsellor (LMHC) based in Brooklyn, New York, who describes her work as psychotherapy meeting mysticism. She offers therapy, including psychedelic preparation and integration, online and in person to people living in New York State, and separate non-clinical ritual and mentoring work to clients anywhere.

Approach

Her therapy draws on Internal Family Systems, somatic therapy, mindfulness, and sex and relationship therapy, with breathwork, energy medicine and guided visualisation among her other tools. In psychedelic work she starts by exploring a client’s intentions, asks newcomers to read up on the cultural and clinical context of the medicine, and suggests at least four to eight integration sessions afterwards. She holds an advanced certificate in mental health counselling from Alfred University and has trained in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy with Skylight Psychedelics and in psychedelic integration with Fluence.

Who it is for

She works with adults and young adults, alone or as couples, and calls her practice affirming for psychonauts, for queer, kinky and ethically non-monogamous clients, for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC clients, and for people on a spiritual path. Focus areas include anxiety, trauma, identity, life transitions, sexuality and spiritual emergence.

Practical details

Individual therapy starts at $225 for 50 minutes and couples work at $325 for 75 minutes, paid by card. She is not in network with insurers but supports out-of-network claims, and a few sliding-scale places exist. Therapy and the non-clinical ritual work cannot run at the same time. Her website says she is not taking new therapy clients for now, though mentorship and ritual work are open.

Care and safety

Work begins with a discovery call and an intake form. At intake she assesses, from a client’s medical and psychological history, whether moving towards a medicine experience is safe.
