About

Tangerine Retreat runs English-speaking psilocybin truffle retreats in the Netherlands, where the truffles are legal, at a country guesthouse in Loenen, about an hour and a half from Amsterdam and Schiphol. Its founder is Arnaud Beauregard.

Approach

There are two formats: three days with one ceremony and two nights, or five days with two ceremonies and four nights. The first part of each stay is preparation, with intention setting and work on set and setting. The ceremony itself lasts four to six hours, lying down, with a music programme and the team present throughout. Workshops in yoga, breathwork and group discussion run alongside, and each guest has a dedicated facilitator for private sessions. The days after the ceremony are for putting the experience into words and turning insights into changes at home.

Who it is for

The retreats are open to adults aged 25 and over who are capable of introspection and ready for a demanding process. Most come to move past an emotional block, work through a life transition, or understand trauma or repeating patterns. The organisers stress that they do not prescribe or treat mental health conditions.

Practical details

Prices start at €1,990. Groups typically have 9 to 12 participants, with one coach for every three. Meals are organic and vegetarian, and rooms are shared with one or two others, or private for an extra charge, each with its own bathroom. Loenen can be reached by train, bus or car. A deposit is due once an application is approved, and bookings made more than three weeks ahead can be paid in two parts.

Care and safety

Applicants complete a detailed medical screening covering psychiatric history, current treatments and heart health, checked against a list of contraindications. A GP or nurse is present during ceremonies, and integration continues for 12 months through remote discussion groups.
