Cherie Felzer, LMFT

Cherie Felzer is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) on the Big Island of Hawaii who helps people prepare for and integrate psychedelic and other transpersonal experiences. Her practice, Weaving Pathways, combines integration counselling with movement and nature-based work, in person or at a distance.

Approach

Felzer moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2007 to study somatic counselling psychology, and is licensed in both California and Hawaii. Dance has been her main spiritual practice for 20 years, mainly Open Floor and 5Rhythms, and her earlier work included youth wilderness therapy, rites of passage, elders living with dementia, women in recovery and war veterans. In Therapy in Motion sessions she works mostly standing, moving with the client and using breath, posture and grounding. Other sessions draw on ecotherapy, ritual and talk therapy. Before a medicine experience she helps set an intention and plan for support; afterwards the aim is to bring what was learned into daily life. She draws on her own experience with plant medicines.

She describes her work as suited to people who feel stuck after a healing process, who struggle to fit a spiritual breakthrough into everyday life, or who want closer contact with nature and their body. She also works with anxiety and depression.

Practical details

Single sessions are priced at $90 to $180, and a package of three costs $350: one preparation session one to two weeks ahead, one integration session the week after and one a month later. Distance sessions run by phone, VSee or Zoom. A free 20-minute consultation by phone comes first, and she refers people elsewhere if the fit is wrong.
