Leanne Whitney, Ph.D.

Leanne Whitney is a depth psychologist and life coach in Culver City, Los Angeles, who offers psychedelic preparation and integration, spiritual guidance and dream work, in person or online. Her work joins Western psychology with yoga philosophy and shamanic traditions.

Approach

She earned her doctorate in depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute and a master’s degree in statistics at the University of St Andrews, and has trained in yoga, craniosacral therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, coaching and hospice care. She wrote Consciousness in Jung and Patañjali (Routledge, 2018), has taught yoga philosophy on teacher trainings since 2014, and in 2024 co-launched a one-year coaching certificate with an emphasis on somatic integration. She traces her path to a pure consciousness event in July 2000, after which she turned to Jung and Patañjali, and in 2003 to psilocybin and shamanic traditions. In person, sessions can end with craniosacral therapy.

She works with people who want guidance beyond conventional psychotherapy, including those processing a non-ordinary state of consciousness, whether it came spontaneously, through meditation or through psychedelics, and those in spiritual emergency. She also supports people planning a self-guided psychedelic experience, with preparation beforehand and integration after.

Practical details

Sessions cost $195 to $295 an hour, depending on frequency and income, at her office in downtown Culver City or by Zoom, FaceTime or Skype. Integration can be a single session or a series held every week, fortnight or month, and new clients receive a detailed preparation manual. She also runs a seven-week group on psychedelic integration through yoga psychology. A free 15-minute consultation comes first, and cancellations need 48 hours’ notice.
